Iota Birth Stool 3.0
Designed by a midwife and woodworker married couple duo 30+ years ago, the “Iota Birthing Stool" has seen thousands of births across Canada. With blessings from the previous woodworker, we've been handed the torch to carry it forward. We've taken the original template of the Iota stool and integrated some modifications to make it our own.
Now in collaboration with Birth Supplies Canada, we’ve revised our more premium version of this seat shape and finishing approach, and brought this stool closer in aesthetic to the original Iota Birthing Stool previously sold through BSC.
We’ve also collaborated with an offsite studio to finish these stools with a smooth lacquer finish, in likeness of the historical finish used on these seats. With a lacquer finish, there is minimal sanding required as the finish itself will provide a smooth surface to touch.
These approaches - more simplified design, and a fast, lacquer finish - allow us to provide these stools at a wholesale cost to BSC.
We offer this stool in hardwood maple, and removable legs are available in 10” and 12” leg heights. Finger grooves are on the underside to support gripping during the second stage of labour, and for easy handling.
