Our ceremonial bowls come from careful cutout of the inner round of the birth stools, when wood size allows for a cut from a single, large piece of wood. These are currently offered in ash (light) or walnut (dark) wood. Dimensions will vary based on the wood itself, though the approximate end result is 8-9” diameter and 1.75-2” in height.
As all wood is unique, we focus on integrating the variety of colours, grain patterns and markings to bring out the beauty of the premium woods we work with. You’re welcome to indicate in the notes your preferences or wishes, and we’ll see what we can create for you. We’re happy to share photos of what’s on hand, or source what it is that you’re looking for including alternate wood options.
Like our seats, these bowls are sanded to an exceptionally high grit finish, providing a silky feel to touch that’s unparalleled. This is followed by our 3 layers oil and wax blend finishing process. It’s of heirloom quality, perfect for a lifetime of sacred use.
We hand-craft all aspects of our products using traditional methods where possible, and work with others who do the same: from the trees that are cut by people we know directly; to the natural milling and air-drying process free of chemicals and dyes; to our careful hand selection of wood pieces; to the hand-turning of the bowls on our lathe; to the hand sanding and applied oils and waxes. We do it all and take heartfelt pride in the quality we offer.
